Sharon Vigil

Chief Operations Officer; Communities In Schools of Central Texas

Sharon has over 20 years implementing social service program targeted on closing the education opportunity gap for students of color and those affected by poverty, she has dedicated her career to the pursuit of educational equity. She earned Bachelor of Business Administration degrees in Finance and Marketing from the University of Houston, and a Master of Education degree from Texas State University. She currently serves on two local boards and is a commissioner on the Hispanic Quality of Life City of Austin Board. While she enjoys giving back at a community macro, she values the impact of a one-on-one relationship, that is why she continues to be a volunteer mentor working with a student at Lively Middle School. She received the National Presidential Award for her volunteer service in 2000, she was honored as an Austin ISD “Shining Star” and she is a member of the Leadership Austin Essential Class of 2019.

She joined Communities In Schools of Central Texas in 2017 as a season executive leader. She is described as being a visionary executive leader with a long-standing track record of excellence and innovation. She is deeply mission and values and is an expert in operationally embedding Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion into the fabric of agencies that brings about agency and social change.
