Hema Mullur is an Emmy Award-winning anchor at CBS Austin News. Hema attended the University of Texas at Austin where she majored in Plan II Honors and Broadcast Journalism. She started her broadcast career in Midland, TX before moving on to stations in El Paso, TX and Denver, CO. Hema joined CBS Austin in 2014. In 2010, Hema was awarded the Lone Star Emmy award for her work on a documentary about female pilots stationed in El Paso during World War II. She was nominated for a Lone Star Emmy in 2017 and 2018 for Best Anchor in the state of Texas, and a finalist for Best Anchor in the 2018 Texas Associated Press Broadcasters contest. Hema is deeply involved with charities and non-profits in the Austin community. She serves on the board of directors for the Girl Scouts of Central Texas and the Austin Public Library Foundation.
